The American Painter Round 1 Brush stole my heart this month. Previously I had been committed to 000 Winsor & Newton University Series Brushes or the Sceptre Gold II Brushes also in miniscule sizes, but this lovely long handle from American Painter really provided the size, handling, and ease that I needed.
Comb brushes?! Relegated to the craft stores & definitely looked down on by the ART establishment these lovely gems really advanced some of my patterns. I even made my own (pictured in the middle)

So there are my September favorites. Of course my love for Payne's Grey and small brushes still reign, but these products expanded the circle of go-to must haves. Here's to a productive October working with these new favs & perhaps finding some others.

Salt: Who knew you could use it in watercolor. I certainly didn't, but when I talked to other painters they were like, "Oh yeah you can use salt. One of the oldest tricks in the book." Well I guess I have liked some of the more gimmicky things this past month, but like to think I have transformed them... My salt of choice is Morton's Kosher Coarse Grain Salt.
I also enjoyed exploring Sumi this month. Previously I had limited experience with this watercolor/gouache combo, but the gold & silver shades were just what I was hoping for.
