If I were President

When I was younger I wanted to be President. I wasn't particularly interested in politics or American History, I much prefered Art History and reading. However I was interested in the charismatic personality that seemed to dominate the screen & the feeling people had towards the office. But what 8 year old really understands what it is to be President. Even now I think the only people that know are the 45 men who have served in the role as President of the United States. 
This summer Americans began to seriously consider who the next President would be. The Convention Nominations, the third parties, etc. I took a short road trip. I am always thankful to President Eisenhower when cruising down the interstate at 80mph. It gives the opportunity for thankfulness, we have a remarkable infrastructure & a beautiful country, and reflection. I firmly believe in no cell phones while driving. So while all of this political debate swirled around I wondered what my platform would be if I were to run. This being the first year that I could legally cast my hat into the ring as I am now 35. 
I decided that I must be Pro-Life, in everything. I know that term is loaded, perhaps even more so in the current climate, but pause for a minute and allow me to explain. I am for the the environment: stewardship of natural resources (National Parks) & abolishment of harmful practices (fracking). I am for life: reduction of nuclear arsenals. I am for education: allowing teachers to educate critical thinkers. I am for support structures: assistance in the form of health care & housing that allows all to thrive. I am for tighter gun control (mental health screenings & testing as if for car licensure). I am for those things which give life. 
It was an interesting exercise & one that I would challenge you to participate in. Perhaps it will help you articulate the issues that matter to you.
