What I love about this color is it's range. Permanent Sap Green goes from light to dark with such ease. A lot of greens can get yellow or blue & this one remains green throughout.

I just added some fresh paint & decided to document my paint box. It is much more reflective of the colors I actually use now. I bought this set 9 years ago at the Pearl on Canal. Originally it contained a lot of umber & sienna. As you can see blues are basically taking over & the browns have almost all been removed. If anyone can tell me how to not burrow holes thru my paint I would appreciate the pro tip, because no matter how contentious I am about taking paint from the edges I always seem to end up with craters. Also due to my numerous moves early on with this box some of the half pans got scrambled and now I am uncertain of a few of the colors; they are preceded by a dot or not labeled. If you have any insights I would appreciate it; especially regarding the blues. Thanks & Happy Painting! 

I am working on an alphabet with patterned backgrounds. Hope you enjoy it! And if anyone knows of a pattern name that begins with the letter "X" please let me know! 

I am very familiar with waiting for the tide. Our boathouse is fairly far up the creek so low tide is often a negative low tide meaning that it is measured at -1.35 ft. The water is not just missing from the normal current, but also all of the gullies and tributaries. This is when we walk across the flats & find all different sorts of treasures. Or we find nothing, and the kids complain & just count the minutes until the water is high enough for the skegs to not run aground. What do you do with your wait time? 

When I first started painting this pattern it was to practice straight lines, loosen my hand/mind. As I did more & more of them I began thinking of them as stars & possibly as a card front with text, " I just want to look at the stars with you." Then the photoshop manipulation stage came into play & they began to remind me of dandelions with the text, "I wish for you."  Both iterations have a definite wish component. So I wish you a day filled with beauty. 

I am admittedly a little in love with the Winsor & Newton Cobalt Blue Deep. I don't know if it will ever replace my long time love Payne's Grey, a bewitching grey-blue, but CBD is defintely the flame of the month. It is classic & happy.
