Pool Tiles

I have spent a fair amount of my life in swimming pools. When I was 6 months old my mom did that mommy & me class where you blow air at an infants face & then dunk them; instinctively they hold their breath. When I was 6 years old I asked if I could join the swim team; I had seen them practicing while I was in a little rink-a-dink Red Cross lesson... I wanted to be in the pool as long as possible & those kids were in the water before I got to my lesson & after my lesson: lucky ducks! All you had to do was swim one length of the pool without clinging on the lane line or touching the bottom. I did that & joined the team. It was the best!!! I got to practice Monday - Friday from 8am-10am; Tuesdays & Thursdays were an additional 45 minutes of stroke clinic from 10:30am-11:15am. Saturdays were swim meets! Swimming as fast as you could & winning ribbons! It was great! In middle school, high school & the start of college I competed in other sports; I still loved swimming, but I was more interested in talking with friends & I haven't figured out how to talk & swim yet. So fast-forward to sophomore year of college when I get injured doing cross-country. One of the girls in my art class was a captain of the swim team & said, "Come try it!" I did & ended up getting a varsity letter. During grad school I helped little kids prepare for swim teams. Now I swim recreationally & enjoy the no-pressure pattern of laps.
