Just a quick mid-week reminder to not overthink it. I intentionally made this the first statement in my Rules for Healthy Living as it is something I am apt to do. Not overthinking it does not mean be sloppy in your work, but give it the proper consideration & then move on, no obsessing. Those of you that know me personally know I rarely go anywhere without my water bottle. Once my mother saw a photo & she knew I was sitting at the table with the people pictured not because I was pictured but because my water bottle was. I drink about four litres of tap water a day and am always thankful that I live in a place where I can do that. Needless to say I am a little water obsessed. There are many clean water initiatives, but I think few have made as compelling a video as this one. Enjoy!
I find this image find it intriguing, but don't know if it is a case of being in the monkey house too long. If it were printed on fabric I would think it is a weird snakeskin & the salt really left it's shape on a lot of the image rather than pulling & pushing the pigment. Regardless I still find enough interest in the piece to share it with y'all. What will you experiment with this week? Be Bold! Happy Monday Y'all!
Materials: Payne's Grey Hooker Green Arches Hot Press Morton's Kosher Salt Modified Triangle Brush These photos are unedited, shot on the Nikon D5100, with the stock lens. I still have to work at not cropping off parts that would really help the composition, but my grasp of how to adjust the camera for the light is greatly improving. Happy Friday Y'all! Enjoy your weekend!
I have been talking about taking better photos for awhile, but never took the time to figure out my camera. The main impetus in improving my camera skills is every time I go Rebekka Seale's blog she has the most gorgeous photos & I think, "Oh I want to take photos like that." So yesterday I took time out of the studio & read the first chapter of a book specifically geared towards my camera. That ISO stuff really makes a difference. I already have a lot more control over the image; imagine what I will be able to do by chapter 4?! What are you conquering this month? Happy Thursday Y'all!
Field Report: Yesterday I modified another brush. I was hoping for a triangle pattern. Below are the some results from my initial exploration. The results are mixed, but I remain hopeful. Perhaps I will see clearer results today. I put this image together for my Dad's cell phone case & it reminded me of these lyrics from the hymn, My Anchor Holds, which contains such vivid hopeful imagery.
