Where I live we might not have four seasons, but each month brings a new bug: green fly, midge, black fly, spider, palmetto bug, butterfly! Needless to say some months are not very pleasant. Having just gone thru mosquito season the start of butterfly season here in the Low Country is so wonderful & surprising! Just wanted to share some of the joy with you!
Also if you live in the Boston area there is an opening at the Gordon College Gallery this evening that includes one of my pattern pieces. You might also see the awesome work of people like Grant Hanna & Tanja Butler. The show is up for over a month so even if you don't make it this evening there are plenty of other opportunities to check out the show.

![]() If I was the type of person to believe in such things I would certainly believe that faires lived under this mushroom. We have had a prodigious bloom of mushrooms, in the area, in recent weeks. Last week I rode my bike past a lawn & saw where the huge satellite dish designers got their idea from. It was amazing! The mushrooms even tilted at an angle that perfectly mimicked in my minds eye how the satellite fields in the movie Contact look. I am ever more convinced that I cannot paint, print, or design anything that I have not already seen in some iteration. This does not mean that I should stop painting, printing & drawing, but increase my awareness of what I take in & chose my influences carefully. Happy Monday Y'all! These are much more "design-y" then my usual pieces, but I find them funny. Sometimes you don't need a lot of words to adeptly convey an idea. And I am thinking about making some more of these... What do y'all think?
