I am taking some time off from posting here to spend time with family & deal with some ongoing health issues. The #40DaysOfPrintmaking will continue on Instagram.

It is interesting how phrases are transformed when placed on functional objects. For example, by putting "C'est la vie; c'est la guerre." on a pillow are you placing your invite in the mail for a pillow fight? Each of these phrases from the #40DaysOfPrintmaking has particular resonance with the object shown here & while this was not the intended outcome, it is a fun by-product. All of these & many others are for sale on society6.
#40DaysOfPrintmaking is still happening. And with it products are going into my society6 shop almost every day. I happen to think the jump in shower curtain is pretty fun! And society6 has started a new product category: wall tapestries. If that is your thing be sure & head on over to the shop where pillows, clocks, & wall prints await.
Peter Cromer creates nuanced, whimsical & stoic forms with painted collage elements. Drawing from contemporary popular forms with direct corollaries to Henry Moore & Robert Delaunay, Peter's work is an excellent example of contemporary art with substance & trajectory. If you want to find more of Peter on the internet check out his website, Instagram & Facebook. What color do you wish wasn't there?
Probably the small amount of copper. I tend to avoid red based tones. There is something with me and red that is like a cat and a dog. We just don’t get along that well. I find it an alarming colour. What is your favorite brush? I use a sponge when creating. I find that it creates unexpected textures which I love. Sometimes not being able to control the outcome can be very exciting. What is your favorite paper/surface to paint on? Paper!!! That archers paper is the best. Paper is great for cutting up and changing things up more. Collage is a very meditative exercise. What is your favorite color to work with? Grey and neutral colours are my favourite. They are the foundation to bring in fun bright colours and really help balance my art. They help the bright colours pop. Charcoal and Navy are my faves right now. By Robert Louis Stevenson
All the names I know from nurse: Gardener's garters, Shepherd's purse, Bachelor's buttons, Lady's smock, And the Lady Hollyhock. Fairy places, fairy things, Fairy woods where the wild bee wings, Tiny trees for tiny dames-- These must all be fairy names! Tiny woods below whose boughs Shady fairies weave a house; Tiny tree-tops, rose or thyme, Where the braver fairies climb! Fair are grown-up people's trees, But the fairest woods are these; Where, if I were not so tall, I should live for good and all.

This was a special painting made with a friend in mind, and one of her favorite colors is black. To be completely honest, using such a dark color for a background really intimidated me at first, but I absolutely loved the outcome of it. What is your favorite brush? I've always really had a thing for small paint brushes, even working on larger pieces I'll stick to my tiny paint brushes even though it takes a whole lot longer to complete the piece. My 2 round brush and my lining brush are my best friends. What is your favorite paper/surface to paint on? Up until very recently I did almost all of my paintings using watercolor paint on cold press paper. It wasn't until I was commissioned to make a memorial plaque painting of a pet that I really found a love for acrylics. Since that piece I've been loving working with acrylic paint on wood or textured acrylic paper. What is your favorite color to work with? I love to use a combination of light, frosty blue with deep reds. I'll sneak that color combo into any piece that I can, it's just so eye catching! By John Milton
Fly, envious Time, till thou run out thy race, Call on the lazy leaden-stepping hours, Whose speed is but the heavy plummet's pace; And glut thyself with what thy womb devours, Which is no more than what is false and vain, And merely mortal dross; So little is our loss, So little is thy gain. For when as each thing bad thou hast intombed, And last of all thy greedy self consumed, Then long Eternity shall greet our bliss With an individual kiss, And Joy shall overtake us as a flood; When every thing that is sincerely good And perfectly divine, With truth, and peace, and love, shall ever shine About the supreme throne Of Him, t' whose happy-making sight alone When once our heav'nly-guided soul shall climb, Then, all this earthly grossness quit, Attired with stars, we shall for ever sit, Triumphing over Death, and Chance, and thee, O Time. |
