I have been camping for the past two days at Hunting Island State Park. It is beautiful out there. I was captivated by many things, which I will share with you in the coming days. First to be highlighted is the sea foam. I have never seen such large collections of it. The way it danced along the shore line was particularly intriguing. Hope your week is going well! Happy Tuesday Y'all!
Many of my patterns come about because of deliberate mark-making with brush. A firm pressing down of pigment to page in much the same way that you could edition a linocut. While the editioning of this pattern does not pass muster for a clean edition it does work as a repeat pattern with its variations creating interest. I realize more & more that it doesn't matter what material I work with my printmaking roots will always prevail. Long live printmaking!
In other printmaking news my friends at Ink+Smog Editions have just launched a Kickstarter. As always if you cannot give, no problem, please consider sharing their project on social media. Happy Friday Y'all! The camellias have started blooming! It is so exciting. The deer eat most of the flowers here, so to have the camellias bloom from December-May, unharmed, is such a treat in this pine forested tropic infused landscape. The pinks & reds that will bloom later provide such a nice color contrast with the rest of the scenery. I am sure there will be more camellia posts, but for now I leave you with this lovely white specimen. Happy Tuesday Y'all!
There is a lot to unpack in this quote, but my brain is muddled from the cold I have been fighting all week so I will leave you with: Happy Friday Y'all! May your weekend be full of stillness, awe & wonder in the midst of this holiday season.
